Hours:  37.5 hours per week
Schedule: Monday - Friday from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (some evenings and weekends as required)
Location: Surrey, BC

Salary: This position starts at $75,000 per year and increases to $107,849 per year, over a 10- year period. This salary range incorporates experience, yearly salary increments to reward years of service, employee growth and development within the organization.

The Opportunity

DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society is seeking a Manager, Social Entrepreneurship. The Manager, Social Entrepreneurship, is responsible for leading and executing strategies to expand and enhance the organization’s social enterprise initiatives. This includes identifying new business opportunities, developing innovative models for sustainable growth, and ensuring the social enterprises align with the organization's mission and values. The position requires an individual with a strong entrepreneurial mindset, keen business acumen, and a commitment to creating social impact through innovative solutions. The Manager will collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders, oversee the development of new business models, and ensure the financial sustainability of social enterprises. This role is key to ensuring the success and scalability of social enterprises within the organization, driving both social impact and profitability.

1.0 SPECIFIC DELIVERABLES AND AUTHORITIES

1.1 Strategic Planning and Development

  • Develop and execute strategies to grow and diversify the social enterprise portfolio.
  • Identify and assess new business opportunities, including partnerships, acquisitions, and collaborations, that align with the organization’s social impact objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior management to integrate social enterprise initiatives into the organization’s overall strategic plan.
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and scaling of new social enterprises and ensure alignment with mission-driven goals.
  • Prepare and present proposals for new initiatives, funding applications, and partnerships to secure resources for growth.
  • Keep up to date with trends in social entrepreneurship, market opportunities, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.

1.2 Innovation and Program Development

  • Drive the innovation of new products, services, or business models within the social enterprise.
  • Continuously assess community needs and ensure that social enterprise offerings address these needs while generating social and financial returns.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to design and implement innovative solutions and new service offerings that foster long-term sustainability and scalability.
  • Develop and execute pilot programs, evaluating their effectiveness and adjusting strategies for broader implementation.

1.3 Financial Oversight and Contract Management

  • Oversee the financial management of social enterprise initiatives, ensuring profitability, financial sustainability, and adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Monitor performance metrics for social enterprises, analyze financial results, and recommend actions for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with funding agreements, contracts, and reporting requirements.
  • Lead the negotiation of funding contracts, grants, and partnerships, working closely with finance and legal teams.

1.4 Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Building

  • Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, business partners, government agencies, and community organizations.
  • Represent the organization at relevant industry conferences, events, and networks to promote the organization’s social enterprise work.
  • Act as the point of contact for stakeholders and partners, ensuring that relationships are managed effectively and opportunities for collaboration are maximized.

1.5 Organizational Development & Team Management

  • Manage and mentor a team of social enterprise staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and personal growth opportunities for team members.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff on the development and management of social enterprise programs, ensuring high levels of engagement, motivation, and performance.
  • Support the development of a culture of innovation and growth within the team, fostering a collaborative and solution-oriented environment.

1.6 Impact Measurement and Reporting

  • Lead the development of frameworks to measure and evaluate the social impact and financial performance of social enterprises.
  • Provide regular reports on the performance of social enterprise initiatives, sharing key learnings, challenges, and impact stories with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Use data and insights to improve business practices and maximize the social impact of the enterprise.

2.0 RELATIONSHIP

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, including operations, marketing, and finance, to ensure the success of social enterprise initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain external partnerships and networks with stakeholders, potential clients, and funders to further the organization’s social enterprise mission.

3.0 REPORTING

  • Reports to the Director, Social Entrepreneurship , Language and Employment Programs

  • Provide insightful data-driven recommendations to improve operations, services, and impact.
  • Lead the social enterprise team to achieve performance targets and foster a high-performance culture.

5.0 QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate for the Manager, Social Enterprise Growth & Innovation role will be a creative and dynamic leader with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for social impact. The following qualifications are essential for this role:

  • Education: University degree in business, social entrepreneurship, nonprofit management, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in social enterprise management, entrepreneurship, or business development, preferably in a nonprofit or social purpose-driven organization.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, manage cross-functional projects, and drive innovative solutions.
  • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of business development, financial management, and marketing within the context of social enterprises.
  • Innovative Thinking: A creative problem solver with a passion for developing innovative approaches to social challenges.
  • Impact Measurement: Experience in developing and applying impact measurement frameworks to assess the success of social enterprises.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas and strategies to a variety of audiences.
  • Collaboration and Relationship Building: Proven track record of building strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, and clients.
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable with using digital tools for data management, financial tracking, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Adaptability: Able to navigate a fast-paced and evolving environment with a focus on both short-term and long-term goals.

6.0 ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Ability to think strategically and execute effectively.
  • Proven track record in proposal writing and securing funding.
  • High level of initiative and self-direction.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Deep understanding of social enterprises and the challenges and opportunities they face.
