Maintenance Engineer
Oversees
property maintenance of grounds, pools, building facilities and guest rooms.
Responsible for daily upkeep, preventive maintenance, small repair and tasks,
special projects, and communicating larger maintenance needs to the General
Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
General
1. Ensure the best possible lodging experience for each guest.
2. Execute and follow the preventative maintenance procedures and guidelines.
3. Follow proper grooming and appearance guidelines.
4. Wear a provided maintenance uniform and nametag at all times on property.
5. Order and install small maintenance items as needed for repair, under direction of the General Manager.
6. Ensure par stocking of regularly used parts and supplies.
7. Complete tasks and assignments on the daily Maintenance Checklist.
8. Prioritize and complete Maintenance Request Forms ASAP.
9. Complete Preventive Maintenance program on a timely basis.
10. Ability to work flexible hours.
11. Respond to maintenance emergencies on a 24 hour call basis.
12. Practice safe working conditions under Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines to include Bloodborne Pathogens.
13. Practice safe chemical handling as prescribed in Material Safety and Data Sheets.
14. Perform and document chemical readings from the swimming pool and the spa. Certified Pool Operator will be required within first 30 days of employment.
15. Program telephone equipment according to hotel needs.
16. Observe equipment and utility meter readings.
17. Learn emergency procedures and fire alarm panel.
18. Serve in the capacity of Manager On Duty (MOD) if needed.
19. Perform any and all duties not specifically outlined above that are an inherent part of the position. Perform and execute any requests made by corporate or supervisor in a cooperative and expeditious manner.
Skills Needed
- Ability to read, write and speak English with excellent grammar and communication skills (written and verbal).
- General knowledge of heating, air conditioning, electric and plumbing skills.
- Knowledge and ability to use basic work tools and equipment.
- Ability to patch holes, clean carpets, and paint walls.
- Ability to work well under limited supervision.
- Ability to lead others.
- Ability to manage others virtually.
- Strong work ethic.
- Valid drivers license
Skill Preferences
- Apartment, building, or lodging maintenance experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to bend at waist and work on knees.
- Ability to reach over head.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to walk three flights of stairs.
- Ability to work outside in hot or cold weather.
