POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Assistant position supports the work of the YMCA of Collier County, Inc., a leading not-for-profit organization committed to strengthening the communities in Collier County through its core focus areas of Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.  This position plays a major role in the Maintenance Department team in performing repairs and maintenance to equipment and facilities.  Monitor facilities, grounds and equipment for cleanliness and safety issues. We are open to full-time or part-time.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain a daily presence in the fitness areas to monitor custodial cleaning, equipment function and safety.

  • Maintain and repair facilities, equipment, and grounds to permit uninterrupted and safe program function and administrative operations on an ongoing basis.

  • Operate all equipment and tools in a safe manner and provide preventative maintenance to keep equipment operational.

  • Respond to staff requests for repair work or other assistance regarding physical plant.

  • Assists with maintenance and repairs on campus as directed by maintenance supervisor.

  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Every incidental duty connected with the Maintenance Assistant job cannot be specified in the position description and the colleague, at the discretion of the CEO, may be required to perform duties that are not included in this job description.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of a wide variety of power and hand tools.

  • Familiar with basic plumbing, electric, mechanical, and construction methods and techniques.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and initiate repairs or take other corrective action with little or no direction.

  • Knowledge of tennis court surface maintenance requirements, methods, and use of specialized equipment.

  • Knowledge of circuit breaker locations, plumbing shut off valves and other safety related mechanical systems.

  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

  • Onsite attendance is required of this position.


TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of YMCA of the USA Child Abuse and Appropriate Touch classes

  • Completion of the YMCA’s Blood Borne Pathogens training

  • Completion of the YMCA’s Social Media & Digital Communications class

  • Completion of the YMCA’s Safe Lifting training

  • Additional training classes as required for this position to meet YMCA quality standards.
