Job Summary:
The Maintenance team charge is to be excellent servants in the stewardship of the facilities and grounds God has given Deer Run to fulfill the mission every day and to be gracious hosts to our guests.
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for all aspects of maintaining and improving the grounds, buildings, roads, trails, and vehicles. Using scheduled routine maintenance and inspections to prolong the useful life of facilities and performing repairs to bring systems back to a useful state.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Treat guests and fellow team members with the utmost respect and courtesy. We are ambassadors of Jesus Christ everywhere and always.
· Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
· Use proper PPE and work safely.
· Be mindful of the “front of the house” guest experience by trying not to conduct operations that may unduly disrupt guests and camp activities. Furthermore, improve their experience by picking up trash or anything else that is out of place or unsafe. Always err on the side of being a good steward and servant.
· Adhere to all Deer Run policies and procedures.
· Safely operate power tools such as, but not limited to, drills, circular saws, table saws, miter saws, chain saws, pole saws, trimmers, pneumatic nailers, air compressors, log splitters, sanders and grinders.
· Perform preventative maintenance duties such as cleaning, painting, caulking, sealing & washing.
· Perform scheduled maintenance duties such as vehicle oil changes, bus maintenance, water filter changes, HVAC air filter changes, gutter cleaning, fire extinguisher inspections, equipment maintenance, winterization of systems, recreational equipment inspections and maintenance and trash management if needed.
· Respond quickly and perform reactive maintenance duties such as diagnosing and repairing electrical failures, audio/video issues, HVAC issues, plumbing leaks, structural and cosmetic damage and vehicle or equipment breakdowns.
· Perform landscaping maintenance including pressure washing, mowing, leaf blowing, clearing storm damage, felling trees, cutting and splitting firewood with chain saws and log splitters.
· Participate in the building or remodeling of structures using or developing skills, including but not limited to, shoveling, laying block, concrete, rough carpentry, basic plumbing, basic electrical, drywall, painting, trim carpentry, HVAC and roofing.
· With proper training and authorization from the Director and Founder; safely operate heavy equipment such as the tractor/backhoe, telehandler, skid loader and excavator.
· Perform bus driving duties as needed and available. (CDL with passenger endorsement needed for this responsibility, but not required for the position.)
· Act as Maintenance Person On-call at least one weekend and up to two weekends per month to respond to weekend maintenance needs when guests are present.
Physical Requirements:
· Physical demands may include kneeling, climbing ladders, reaching, pushing, manipulating, talking, listening, standing for extended periods, crouching, stooping, walking, lifting objects up to 40 lbs. or more with aid from others or equipment, and repetitive motion.
· Activities take place in all weather conditions and year-around. The maintenance technician must be properly dressed for the season at hand to include extreme cold and extreme heat as well as rain and snow.
