Maintenance Associate
- Definition and Basic Function:
The Maintenance Associate is responsible as a member of the Facility Services Team to assist in maintenance of the organization’s physical sites and promote the safety and well being of all Individuals and Team Members.
- Accountability:
The Maintenance Associate is directly accountable to the Associate Director of Facility Services and subsequently to the Director of Operations.
- Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates a respectful positive attitude that promotes service excellence to Individuals, fellow Team Members, families and / or the general public.
2. Remains familiar with all Friendship Community buildings and equipment, electrical, water, and sewage systems to manage routine maintenance and emergency operation protocols.
3. Assists Maintenance Team in long range planning of facilities, updating maintenance improvement programs, plans relating to projects, meeting with vendors, and ordering supplies for projects.
4. Performs building, vehicle, grounds and other necessary work projects as assigned to maintain Friendship Community properties
5. Provides on-site supervision and coordination for building and remodeling projects. This includes working with subcontractors and volunteers.
6. Maintains security practices related to property access.
7. Maintains assigned work vehicle including stock of well-maintained tools as required for scope of required tasks.
8. Attends training sessions as assigned and maintains annual training requirements.
9. Adheres to organizational Policies and Procedures, as well as applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Work Schedule:
Unless otherwise specified, Maintenance Associates are full-time (40 hours per week), with hours generally 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to respond to urgent needs as they arise outside of typical business hours. The Maintenance Associate role is an hourly position.
- Education and Experience:
1. Basic carpentry, electrical, HVAC or plumbing skill knowledge is preferred.
2. Specialized training and certification in a specific trade field.
3. Proficiency in building construction and mechanicals
4. Demonstration of sound decision making and performance of tasks with limited direct supervision
5. Promotion of efficiency and sustainable solutions
6. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
7. Ability to work cohesively with a team
8. Demonstration of creativity with available resources
9. Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
10. Promotion of safety culture
11. Basic computer skills that include using email, navigating the internet, creating spreadsheets, and updating Maint related software.
- Tools/Vehicle:
Tools and a work vehicle will be provided and must be maintained by a Maintenance Associate per the organization’s policies and required practices.
