Maintenance Assistant Full Time
Position Summary
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for maintaining the grounds and facility in a safe and efficient
manner, including assistance with preventative maintenance program as directed by the Maintenance
Director.
Duties and Responsibilities
*Must be knowledgeable of maintenance practices and procedures.
* Must routine maintenance service and document as director from the Maintenance Director.
* Perform routine maintenance on building, grounds, parking areas, etc., as necessary or directed.
* Completes repairs on the facility and equipment to include minor plumbing, plastering, painting,
mechanical, replacing light bulbs, changing filters, etc., as directed by the Maintenance Director.
* Performs unscheduled maintenance as able.
* Must be able to inspect equipment/systems regular for proper functioning safely
* Follow all established safety procedures and precautions when performing maintenance services,
keeping work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, (i.e. grease/oil spills, excess supplies,
equipment, etc.).
* Assures that work/assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly
stored before leaving work areas.
* Follows established fire safety policies and procedures.
* Assures that established infection control and universal precaution practices are maintained when
performing maintenance procedures.
* Reports equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to the Maintenance Director.
* Assists others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc. as directed or requested.
* Be familiar with Disaster Plan information and the role in the event of an emergency.
* Maintains confidentiality of resident information, as well as their personal property rights.
* Assist in the orientation and training of staff members.
* Must exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
* Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
* Must be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgement.
* Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
* Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently
during working hours.
* Must be able to lift 35 pounds floor to waist, lift 35 pounds waist to shoulder, lift and carry 35
pounds and push/pull 35 pounds.
* Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents in an emergency.
* Other duties as assigned.

* Must perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to general
maintenance responsibilities, patient rights, safety and sanitation.
* Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and confidential information.
Working Conditions
* Performs work inside and outside in all weather conditions.
* Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals.
* Possible exposure to electrical hazards and machine guarding.
* Works in department and throughout the facility.
* Subject to frequent interruptions.
* Involved with patients, employees, visitors, government agencies/personnel.
* Subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc. throughout the workday.
* Possible exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.
