The Job

The Loss Prevention Associate is responsible for delivering a safe and secure environment for our team and guests at all times. This role is also responsible for coaching the associate and leadership teams on loss prevention best practices for reducing shrink. The Loss Prevention Associate is key to driving strong working partnerships across functions to ensure safety and security is top of mind. 

Reporting to: Store Manager

What You’ll Do

Guest

  • Ensure loss prevention activity is conducted in a way that minimizes any impact on the guest experience.
  • Role model a “guest before task” mentality.
  • Ensure that the environment of the store is considered when delivering loss prevention tasks.

Team

  • Be an expert in processes and procedures to provide support and guidance to the wider team.
  • Regularly connect with the team to build rapport and gain a solid understanding of the people you work with.
  • Highlight training needs across the team to allow this to be addressed with available resources.
  • Develop and maintain partnership with Rockefeller Center’s security team as well as our neighboring stores.
  • Create a monthly safe & secure program that provides training and resources for our team.
  • Advise retail managers on compliance with applicable codes, laws, regulations, or standards; ensure OSHA compliance.

Store

  • Ensure compliance with FAO Schwarz policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Rockefeller Center policies and procedures.
  • Complete loss prevention audit programs including store audits, maintenance audits, safety & security audits, and back of house audits.
  • Maintain a detailed Emergency Contact List and Emergency Contact Plan for our team should a natural or man-made disaster occur.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement to investigate and solve external theft or fraud cases.
  • Maintain documentation of all loss prevention activities.
  • As needed, conduct camera surveillance related to theft and criminal cases.
  • Provide training recommendations for crisis situations such as workplace violence, active shooter/terrorism, lost child, emergency medical events, protests, and demonstrations.
  • Verify correct use and maintenance of physical security systems, such as our team’s badge access levels, cameras, alarms, customer traffic/line queues, etc.
  • Immediately notify and collaborate with Flagship Store Director and Corporate Head of Human Resources prior to conducting internal investigations of problems such as internal theft and violations of corporate policies.
  • Assess security needs to ensure proper deployment of LP resources, such as Security Guards and technology.
  • Analyze retail data to identify emerging trends in theft or fraud.
  • Monitor compliance in operational, safety, or inventory control procedures, including physical security standards.

What You Have

  • 2+ years experience in a loss prevention role within a fast-paced premium retail or experience-based environment.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, and bending, twisting, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Knowledge of POS and Inventory management systems a plus.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal ability.
  • Strong computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory and shrink mitigation shortage and investigation.
  • New York State Security Guard License a plus.
  • Flexible availability in line with a Flagship Retail environment across days, evenings and weekends.
