Logistics Administrator
John Ross & Sons Ltd. is the largest scrap metal recycling facility in Atlantic Canada, and we are committed to exceeding our customer's expectations. We are currently seeking a Logistics Administrator to join our team.
This is a dynamic entry-level position designed to introduce candidates to the many layers of operations within John Ross & Sons Ltd. Through hands-on training, you'll gain valuable experience and insight into our business, opening the door to growth and advancement within the company.
Position Description:
Reporting directly to the Owners, Logistics Manager, and Logistics Supervisor, the Logistics Administration role requires a highly organized individual with the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Attention to detail is essential for success in this position.
Below are some of the key tasks you will be introduced to:
• Possess a thorough understanding of business processes and key performance indicators
• Ensures compliance with all quality control and safety procedures
• Understand processes and procedures of Freight Forwarding Ocean freight
• Strong knowledge of: INCOTERMS, VGM, FROB, B13, LC, D/P
• Negotiate cost-effective rates with Carriers
• Work closely with Sales and Operations to ensure scheduling within require timeframe
• Customer Service responsibilities include communication with shipper throughout the shipment
• Arrange bookings with Ocean Carriers
• Ensure that details are submitted to Carriers within proper time frame.
• Prepare Ocean Bills of Lading and other Export documentation
• Review and Proof all documentation prior to sending to customer for final approval
• Monitor shipments and report any changes of the intended schedule
• Identify current and potential problems and provide solution alternatives best for Customers.
• Cross-Train to be proficient in all duties that the Logistic Team Overseas
Requirements:
The Logistics Administrator does not need to have logistics experience.
They are expected to have:
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and organization skills
• Ability to plan, coordinate and monitor performance of team
• Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Able to work Monday to Friday, 7am-5pm; rotating Saturdays, 7am-12pm
