Log5 Pasteurizer Operator (Including Boiler & RO Systems)
The Log5 Pasteurizer Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Log5
pasteurization system, as well as the associated boiler and reverse osmosis (RO) systems.
This role is essential to maintaining validated food safety performance, utility support, and
compliance with plant protocols. Duties include equipment monitoring, maintenance
support, documentation, and interdepartmental coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Log5 Pasteurization System Operation
• Operate the Log5 pasteurizer following SOPs and production schedules.
• Monitor critical parameters (time, temperature, flow) to ensure validated pathogen
reduction.
• Manage throughput and minimize downtime through proactive adjustments.
Boiler System Oversight
• Monitor boiler pressure, water levels, and safety controls.
• Conduct daily checks and minor adjustments to maintain consistent steam supply.
• Notify maintenance of any issues; assist with inspections and documentation.
• Maintain a clean, compliant boiler room environment.
Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water System Operation
• Operate and monitor the RO system to ensure clean, compliant process water.
• Track system pressures, filter condition, and water quality indicators.
• Perform membrane replacements, filter changes, and cleaning cycles.
• Log water quality metrics and maintenance actions.
Process Monitoring & Recordkeeping
• Record operational parameters for pasteurizer, boiler, and RO system.
• Document CCPs, deviations, corrective actions, sanitation tasks, and water test results.
• Ensure compliance with FSMA, HACCP, and company audit requirements.
Sanitation & Preventative Maintenance
• Conduct routine CIP (Clean-in-Place) processes for all systems.
• Assist with changeovers and sanitation between product lots or types.
• Support and document preventive maintenance on pasteurizer and utilities.
Safety & Compliance
• Adhere to all safety policies (PPE, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, chemical handling, etc.).
• Follow OSHA, CalOSHA, FDA, and internal safety regulations.
• Participate in ongoing training in food safety, equipment use, and hazard response.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
• Work closely with QA, Maintenance, and Production teams.
• Support plant startup/shutdown activities.
• Assist in training relief or backup operators.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical training or coursework in mechanical, steam, or water systems preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in food processing or manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of Log5 or similar thermal pasteurization systems is a plus.
• Understanding of boiler and RO water systems fundamentals.
• Strong attention to detail and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Able to read digital and analog instruments and follow SOPs in English.
• Capable of working in hot, humid, and noisy conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Must be comfortable using hand tools to conduct simple troubleshooting.
Preferred Certifications:
• Boiler Operator Certification (or hands-on equivalent experience)
• HACCP or Food Safety Certification
• RO System Training or Water Quality Certification
• Forklift Certification
