Locater - Fiber Optic Cable System

NATURE OF WORK

Responsible for assisting Drill Operator in locating drill head and drilling in accordance with blueprints.  Verify locate marks and confirm location of existing facilities.  Assist with clean-up and other duties as assigned.  The Locater is responsible for maintaining equipment per manufacturer’s specifications and safety guidelines. 

REQUISITE SKILLS

Education / Certification: 

·       Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.

·       Company will provide industry training and certifications if not already secured.

·       CDL is a plus.

Experience: 

·       Prior experience with Subsite or DCI locating equipment required.  Prior experience in underground fiber and coax construction a plus.  Prior experience in standard and high risk areas preferred. 

Technical Skills: 

·       Capacity to read and understand blueprints; knowledge of utility depths and placements; general knowledge of construction practices is required.

Physical Requirements / Aptitude: 

·       Able to work in trenches, manholes, tunnels and confined spaces and in work settings with moderate to loud noise levels.

·       Able to move in different positions – crouching, kneeling, reaching, bending and lifting 75 lbs., unassisted.

·       Abie to keep good logs and consistent reporting.

Other: 

·       Willing to work overtime when required, willing to travel and to work in all-weather conditions.

·       Self-motivated and able to work well in groups.
