POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Literacy Tutor who is knowledgeable and qualified to assist students in the Lower School (Kindergarten to Grade 6). Tutoring sessions will be one-on-one or in a small group setting. All tutoring will occur on the Ridley campus in the Learning Centre during the school day. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Meet with students, as needed, over the course of the year during the school day

Communicate with the family, Learning Strategies teacher and classroom teacher on a consistent basis

Plan and deliver instruction and/or practise that meets the needs of the student based on assessment, teacher and family feedback

QUALIFICATIONS:

Post secondary degree in English or 1 year of post-secondary education in the related field of study 

OCT considered an asset 

Experience teaching or tutoring lower school aged students an asset

Experience with Orton-Gillingham or structured literacy programmes using the Orton-Gillingham approach preferred

Knowledge of teaching techniques and learning styles

Familiarity with the Ontario Curriculum 

Ability to travel to Ridley College for student meetings
