POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a Literacy Tutor who is knowledgeable and qualified to assist students in the Lower School (Kindergarten to Grade 6). Tutoring sessions can be one-on-one or in a small group setting. All tutoring will occur on the Ridley campus in the Learning Centre.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Meet with students, as needed, over the course of the year (at student discretion and based on tutor availability);
• Communicate with the family, Learning Strategies teacher and classroom teacher on a consistent basis
• Plan and deliver instruction and/or practise that meets the needs of the student based on assessment, teacher and family feedback
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Post secondary degree in English or 1 year of post-secondary education in the related field of study
• Experience teaching or tutoring lower school aged students an asset
• Experience with Orton-Gillingham or structured literacy programmes using the Orton-Gillingham approach preferred
• Knowledge of teaching techniques and learning styles
• Familiarity with the Ontario Curriculum
• Ability to travel to Ridley College for student meetings
• OCT considered an asset
