Line Cook
As a Line Cook at Underdog BBQ, you'll be an integral part of our kitchen team, responsible for preparing and cooking delicious BBQ dishes according to our recipes and quality standards. You'll work collaboratively with other kitchen crew to ensure timely and efficient food preparation, while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and procedures.
- Operate and maintain BBQ smokers, grills, and other kitchen equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety.
- Coordinate food preparation with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy periods.
- Monitor food temperatures and ensure food safety and sanitation standards are upheld throughout the cooking process.
- Prepare and portion ingredients accurately, following portion control guidelines to minimize waste.
- Assist with the preparation of sauces, marinades, rubs, and other condiments used in BBQ dishes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of food items, cleaning of equipment, and disposal of waste.
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper handling and storage of raw ingredients.
- Collaborate with kitchen management to develop and improve recipes, procedures, and menu items as needed.
- Assist with inventory management, including monitoring stock levels and notifying management of any shortages or discrepancies.
- Work efficiently and effectively as part of our crew, communicating and coordinating with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation during service.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a line cook, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment.
- Ability to work efficiently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality and presentation.
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently produce high-quality dishes.
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation principles, including proper food handling and storage procedures.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a hot and fast-paced kitchen environment.
