Early Childhood Teacher - Lil Champs Day Out

JOB SUMMARY

To provide a safe, nurturing, Christian educational learning environment for all children so that a greater understanding of Gods love can be portrayed. To serve as a classroom teacher in the planning and execution of age appropriate activities in accordance with the programs ministry goals and beliefs. To support the team in the ongoing activities of the Lil Champs Day Out program in keeping with the policies and procedures established by Community Bible Church and the Early Childhood Ministry.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Abide by all state licensing guidelines as set forth by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services
  • Create a classroom environment that supports the developmentally appropriate needs of the children in the assigned class
  • Design and submit daily plans which reflect an engaging learning environment supportive of age appropriate needs of the children
  • Prepare and carry out a regular schedule of activities for the assigned class
  • Work cooperatively with a co-teacher and share in the tasks of planning and teaching
  • Attend classes, workshops, training programs, conferences, courses and other training opportunities for personal or professional growth outlined and approved to include the required annual training hours per Texas State Licensing
  • Obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Maintain a clean, organized and age appropriate classroom with a variety of daily learning opportunities
  • Perform all job duties outlined in accordance with the CBC Personnel Manual, the Lil Champs Day Out Employee Handbook and State Minimum Standards
  • Attend all staff meetings – scheduled or called
  • Accept rotating duties for Aftercare as needed
  • Volunteer/serve as needed in both Easter and Christmas Team CBC "all hands on deck" weekends. In addition, have a willingness to sign up for various Early Childhood special events throughout the year
  • Other duties as assigned

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a regular part-time position, Monday -Thursday 8:00 am-2:30 pm. Some weekends and evenings are required as job duties demand.  

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to do the following:

  • Must have good manual dexterity and be able to use repetitive motion of the hands and arms
  • Must be able to move about the classroom and storage rooms to perform a variety of tasks
  • Must be able to frequently and effectively communicate in both written and verbal form
  • Must be able to frequently lift children up to 75 pounds
  • Sitting, walking, bending, reaching and occasional lifting 10-30 pounds
  • Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, bending, and crouching
  • Participation in outdoor events/activities in the heat and occasional events/activities that require prolonged standing
  • Must have good or corrected vision as well as effective peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or enrolled in a teacher assistant program through high school (camp assistant)
  • Two years of experience in working with children is preferred
  • Knowledge of general office equipment and technology platforms Internet, Google Drive, Microsoft Office.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification preferred
  • First Aid Certification preferred 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Duties are performed in a childcare/classroom setting with occasional outside events/activities that require prolong standing. The environment may be fast-paced and hectic at times. Therefore, it is essential that the employee can effectively handle the normal anxieties associated with the job and manage multiple activities in a childcare setting.
