Summary of Duties:
The Community Food Centre (CFC) Manager oversees the full suite of food programming at the Lil’wat Community Food Centre. This role requires experience in program planning, policy, community engagement, and operational oversight. The Manager will lead a team in creating a dynamic and inclusive space where people come together to cook, grow, and share good food.
The successful candidate will be a proven leader with a passion for food justice and a strong commitment to making a meaningful impact in the community. The CFC Manager plans, directs, and monitors the quality and delivery of all programs using a collaborative and team-oriented management style.
Key Deliverables and Expectations:
- Prepare grant applications and funding proposals to support new initiatives and pilot projects.
- Identify and develop fundraising opportunities to support ongoing CFC operations.
- Collaborate with the Director and other Lil’wat departments to align programs with Nation-wide strategic goals.
- Oversee daily operations of the Community Food Centre, including facility management, budgeting, food inventory, and compliance with health and safety standards.
- Track and evaluate program outcomes; develop regular reports for funders, leadership, and stakeholders.
- Lead community engagement and planning processes to guide the ongoing growth of food security and food sovereignty initiatives.
- Develop and implement a communications and engagement strategy to raise awareness and grow participation in CFC programs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, partners, and stakeholders.
- Lead all aspects of staff management including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance reviews, and identifying training or professional development needs.
- Promote the inclusion of Lil’wat cultural knowledge, seasonal practices, and traditional food systems in all programming, in collaboration with Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
- Perform other related duties as requested.
Experience and Attributes:
- Post-secondary education in community development, public health, Indigenous studies, food systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years of experience in program coordination or community-based programming.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or management experience, including leading a team and handling staff development and performance.
- Strong knowledge and passion for food systems and a demonstrated commitment to food justice and social equity.
- Experience in fundraising, reporting to funders, and program evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to work with cultural humility and apply decolonizing practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Experience working in or with a First Nations community is a strong asset.
- Must be able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector clearance
