Lifeguard training will be provided by Splash Lagoon Indoor Water Park.

SUMMARY

The Lifeguard has a legal duty to protect the safety of people in an assigned area. The Lifeguard has a professional obligation to prevent potential accidents by enforcing the rules and regulations of an aquatic setting and to react to any emergencies that occur.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Must have good eye-hand coordination.
  • Must be able to read, and interpret printed material and illustrations.
  • Anticipate how and where incidents will occur
  • Recognize incidents utilizing the "10/20 Protection Rule"
  • Effectively manage the incidents with skills that must be maintained at a "test-ready" level, including,
  • Professional Rescuer CPR
  • ILTP Lifeguard Skills
  • Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider; AED, First Aid, Oxygen Administration
  • Think critically about the complications that might be present in real situations
  • Act in a professional manner
  • Protect your safety and well-being
  • Understand how to prevent exposure to disease transmission
  • Abide by the contents and obligations as set forth in the ILTP & CARMP.
  • Able to lift and drag up to 150 pounds unassisted.
  • Able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, including in elevated chairs.
  • Able to visually inspect conditions of pools and swimmers with 20/25 vision in both eyes (with or without corrective lenses).
  • Able to hear noises and sounds of distress even outside one's vision.
  • Able to communicate verbally including projecting the voice across large distances.
  • Ability to follow and accomplish technical and complex instructions & procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to properly and safely operate equipment used.
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Knowledge of the standards of care in aquatic industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with public, guests and staff members.
  • Must be firm, fair, consistent and courteous in order to gain the respect and cooperation of the public.
  • Must have a positive attitude in order to fully cooperate with other guards in a team effort, and adhere to rules and regulations to ensure successful operation of a facility.
  • Must have the physical and mental conditions necessary to be able to properly and timely activate and complete the EAP system in the case of an emergency.
  • Must possess good oral communication skills.
  • Must be skilled in the use and care of supplied equipment.
  • Independent judgment concerning work methods and procedures is required.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • The Lifeguard must possess a Shallow water/Special Facilities Lifeguard license from the International Lifeguard Training Program/ CARMP
