Our firm is looking for an energetic and experienced Legal Assistant to join our team in Birmingham, AL. This role will support the firm’s attorneys with litigation and pre-litigation tasks, such as acquiring and indexing files from clients or online databases, answering the phone, and maintaining an accurate calendar of all litigation deadlines. Additionally, this legal administrative assistant will provide administrative support to firm management tasks. Attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and technological proficiency are essential to this role. Previous legal administrative experience required.


Position Description

1. Assist attorneys and paralegals with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and organizing files.

2. Conduct legal research using various resources such as online databases, libraries, and legal publications.

3. Draft and proofread legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, and contracts.

4. Assist in the preparation of cases for hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings.

5. Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in legal matters.

6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of case information and documentation.

7. File legal documents with courts and administrative agencies as required.

8. Coordinate and schedule meetings, depositions, and other appointments for attorneys.

9. Assist in the preparation of billing statements and invoices for clients.

10. Provide general administrative support to the legal team as needed.

11. A minimum of 5 years experience as a Legal Assistant or work at a defense firm. 


Position Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in legal studies, paralegal studies, or a related field preferred.

2. Previous experience working as a legal assistant or in a similar role is desirable.

3. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.

6. Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

7. Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.

8. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

9. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.

10. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
