General Description

The Lead Porter  is responsible for overseeing the Banquet Porter team, ensuring all banquet setups and breakdowns are executed efficiently and to the highest standards. This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate logistics while maintaining an outstanding guest experience.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in banquet operations or hospitality, with supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage last-minute changes efficiently
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality service
  • Ability to lift over 25 lbs on a consistent basis
  • Ability to read, interpret, and execute Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in the food and beverage industry

Responsibilities

  • Supervision & Leadership
    • Train, supervise, and mentor the Banquet Porter team
    • Assign tasks and ensure proper execution of banquet setups and breakdowns
    • Maintain clear communication between porters, banquet servers, and management
    • Conduct regular team meetings and training sessions to enhance performance and service standards
  • Banquet Setup & Execution
    • Oversee banquet room setup according to BEO specifications
    • Ensure timely and efficient tear-down of events, checking equipment for damage and proper storage
    • Coordinate with the Banquet Manager and other departments to ensure smooth event operations
  • Guest Service & Problem Resolution
    • Handle guest concerns, requests, and special accommodations professionally and promptly
    • Communicate additional client requests to the Banquet Manager and Director of Food & Beverage
  • Equipment & Inventory Management
    • Maintain all banquet equipment in excellent working condition and report deficiencies
    • Conduct monthly inventory checks on banquet equipment and supplies
    • Ensure banquet storage areas are clean, organized, and stocked appropriately
  • Compliance & Safety
    • Enforce health, safety, and cleanliness standards in all banquet areas
    • Ensure all staff adhere to safety guidelines when handling equipment and furniture
  • Other Duties
    • Assist in planning and executing special events as needed
    • Complete additional tasks assigned by management to ensure the seamless operation of the banquet department
