POSITION SUMMARY:  

This position will perform administrative and clinical tasks in a healthcare clinic setting, including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, taking vital signs, preparing examination rooms, recording medical histories, assisting with patient examinations, collecting specimens like blood or urine samples, and maintaining patient records, under the supervision of the clinic manager and a licensed healthcare provider. 

 MEDICAL ASSISTANT ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote MedNOW’s culture for teamwork, communication, and accountability for the clinics’ staff
  • Responsible for training New Medical Assistant staff as hired.
  • Review and manage MA schedules, training, and noting time off requests.
  • Work with Clinic Manager to review MA/providers coverage schedule weekly.
  • Work alongside the clinic manager to ensure that all patient concerns are addressed within a timely manner.
  • Monitor all MA staff buckets in Athena and hold MA team members accountable for their own providers.
  • Review all MA daily checkoff duties, i.e. temp control logs, inventory control for all rooms, overflow rooms and address issues as they arise.
  • Responsible for reviewing and ordering medical supplies from McKesson, 7 Biote.
  • Ensure there are no expired medical supplies or injectable on the floor monthly.
  • Ensure monthly quality controls are documented and completed.
  • Provides excellent customer service and thoughtful patient care
  • Team centered approach to working with providers and other clinic staff
  • Collection of clinical data such as proper paperwork, patient medical history, patient medication lists
  • Obtains patient vitals, performs urine screenings, rapid testing, visual and hearing screenings, EKG and other point of care testing
  • Prepares and administers medications and immunizations, performs phlebotomy, and recognizes adverse reactions.
  • Accurately processing lab work
  • Processes medication refills, completes patient call backs and referrals and intermittent front office coverage.
  • Additional duties as assigned

 

Experience:

  • 3+ Years experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Previous experience using Athena EMR preferred
  • Ability to work well as part of a treatment team
  • Demonstrates compassion and empathy with team members and patients
  • Must have the safety and well-being of every patient as the highest priority.
