Associate Buyer [JHO]

Our Associate Buyer is responsible for providing outstanding service through replenishing inventory from their categories at each store location.  The Associate Buyer ensures the ordering, receiving, pricing, and merchandising of product to meet their goals.  We currently are looking for someone with experience or interest in hardware and/or lawn and garden products.  Responsibilities include the following:

• Working with others to meet sales goals established by the Company President
• Maintaining optimal inventory levels at all locations
• Frequent replenishment of inventory as requested
• Ensuring orders and payments are completed and products are properly received 
• Maintaining complete, accurate, and consistent records
• Advising on product choices, collecting and sharing customer feedback 
• Helping coordinate training and staff education for products 
• Creating and editing purchase orders and item cards
• Correcting errors in orders and deliveries
• Contacting vendors to obtain information
• Shifting and moving products for receiving, merchandising or order fulfillment 
• Receiving and responding to phone and email communications
• Quickly and correctly entering product information into the computer database 
  
• Pulling information from various systems and sources for reports
  
• Completing forms, working with spreadsheets, and meeting deadlines
• Auditing reports and systems for consistent and accurate data and record-keeping 
• Learning about systems, technology and products to provide better answers to questions 
  
• Taking steps to advance teamwork and develop solid working relationships with co-workers and store staff 
• Assisting in inventory counting and tracking responsibilities 
• Communicating professionally

This is not a remote position.  Work is based out of our Support Center in Laporte, CO and will require occasional trips to our stores to assist with inventory, staging or merchandising.  All JAX employees are expected to provide top-notch customer service, and step up to do additional office, cleaning or reporting work as needed.  

• Knowledge in hardware or lawn and garden products carried by JAX preferred  
• 1-3 years of retail experience required
• Previous experience in a purchasing or buying role preferred
• Experience in retail department management preferred
• Associates Degree in a related field or equivalent education and work experience preferred 
• Computer proficiency and experience navigating in databases required  
• Familiarity with both Mac and Windows, especially MS Excel 
• Negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills required 
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and communicate well via phone or email 
• Ability to shift, move or carry products or boxes required on occasion 
• Works well with others

Schedule Requirements:

• Generally, M-F business hours
• Some flexibility with schedule available 
  

Pay Range:  $18 - $23 hourly
