Location: The Inn At Ocean's Edge, Lincolnville, ME
Hours: Full-time and Part-time available, 15 - 40 hours per week
Compensation: $15-18 an hour, depending on experience.
Seasonal Position: May through October
Start date: May 1, 2024
Benefits: Discounted stays and food & beverage at affiliated properties.

JOB SUMMMARY: 
The Laundry Attendant at The Inn at Ocean's Edge is responsible for overseeing and contributing to the well-being of guests, by ensuring that all linen inventory is clean and available for use on a daily basis.  He/she manages laundry and works with housekeeping department, ensuring superior product quality standards are met in an attentive, friendly, efficient, harmonious and welcoming manner.   
 
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 
  • Foster a positive, cooperative work environment between staff and management. 
  • Training laundry and housekeeping personnel in proper use and daily maintenance of laundry equipment and laundry procedure.  
  • Promote proper orientation, job and safety training. 
  • Ensure exceptional cleanliness and organization of laundry room and associated storage areas by seeing that the daily inspection program is maintained. 
  • Inventory control of all linen supplies and rooms assets.   
  • Work with the Operations Manager to organize the proper opening and closing of the hotel’s rooms and common areas each year. 
  • Communicate effectively with all managers and across hotels lines. 
  • Maintain knowledge of house counts, business levels, scheduled groups and activities.  
  • Creative thinking to constantly improve IOE's product and service. 
  • Know how to repair broken equipment, how to deal with unsafe/unsanitary conditions, or know who to notify of maintenance/sanitary issues. 
  • Must be able to manually handle/lift product up to 40 pounds between knee and shoulder 
  • Must have bilateral fine manipulation of both hands which may be repetitive for entire shift Must be vertically mobile working in limited space for entire shift 
  • Protect the assets of the property and Migis Hotel Group. 
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 
Must be eligible to work in the United States of America. 
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly, written and orally. 

  • Must be able to evaluate and select alternative courses of action quickly and accurately. 

  • Must be able to show initiative in job performance, including the anticipation of what needs to be done before it becomes necessary. 

  • Must be able to meet deadlines and be multi-tasking. 

  • Able and willing to take direction 

  • A team player that is flexible and willing to help support BPI’ and MHG’s goals and the ability to support other hotels rooms operations. 

  • Must have a service-oriented personality who enjoys being part of and leading a motivated team. 

  • Must be neat, courteous and extremely detail oriented. 

  • Must enjoy and be able to meet the public with poise. 

  • Must be able to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy. 

  • Ability to understand verbal and written directions, as well as chemical safety and other workplace safety signage.   

  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods. 

  • Ability to change activity frequently and work with constant interruptions. 

 

ABILITIES REQUIRED: 

  • Frequent walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, lifting, manual dexterity and repetitive motions.  May require the ability to work on uneven outdoor surfaces. 

  • Occasional stair climbing. 

  • Working in extreme temperatures conditions. 

  • Schedule varies according to operational needs; may includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.  

  • Frequent hand-washing 

  • Hazards include, but are not limited to back and muscle injuries from bending/lifting, exposure to chemicals, slips, and tripping.
