The Role:
We are looking for a Landscape Designer with 2+ years of professional work experience and has begun to develop their own design aesthetic. This person is competent using AutoCAD and SketchUp, and has experience in estimating and construction. This position is for someone who wants to be challenged by the complexity, sophistication, and elaborateness of Topiarius’ designs. This person knows how to design with plants, hardscape, and carpentry details for estimates, renderings, and style guides. We are looking for a landscape designer who cares about site measurements and understands that a measurement mistake has consequences for the whole team and profitability. They also know how to work within timelines and produce exceptional work for a superior client experience.
This position’s success will be measured by:
· Meeting productivity timelines.
· Productivity that corresponds to the sales team’s sales goals.
· Consistently demonstrating attention to detail and clear graphic communication.
What You Will Do:
Support the sales staff.
· Create work orders, estimates for enhancements/small jobs, and participate in contract renewals to calculate the cost of materials, labor, and equipment usage.
Support the design staff.
· Take site measurements and site photos, and create base maps.
· With guidance, create presentations.
· Help keep sample library current and organized.
· With direction from Senior Landscape Designer, support design work.
· Generate design and construction drawings using AutoCAD software.
· Create project packet drawing sets for each sold contract that includes field verifications, field drawings and construction drawings, materials list and cut lists.
· Contribute to generating innovative ideas that are built.
Help the overall team achieve their sales and profit goals.
· Collaborate with staff during the design process to offer creative problem-solving solutions.
· Confidently suggest any resources and sub-contractors that can/could be used/should be utilized in project designs based on product availability.

Required Background:
· 2+ years of professional work experience in landscape design.
· Experience in construction and estimating.
· Proficient in Adobe programs, estimating software, AutoCAD, Sketchup, and Microsoft programs.
· Higher education degree or equivalent.
· Solid communication, verbally and written.
· Knowledge in residential design and construction.
· Demonstrates exceptional judgment, decision-making, and prioritization skills.
· Experience with generating, reading, and implementing architectural drawings and design/build construction sets.
· Personal vehicle with insurance or willingness to utilize public transportation for client site visits.
· Able to work well in an open office setting.
Desirable Background:
· Experience with Aspire.
Expected Activity and Movement:
· Regularly sit at desk and work with computer.
· May lift, carry, or otherwise move and position objects weighing up to fifty pounds using appropriate tools.
· Bends, stoops, and crouches on an occasional basis.
· Intermittently moves about to work.
· Occasionally work in locations of height (i.e., roof decks, balconies).
· Regularly drive personal vehicle (or utilize public transportation) throughout Chicagoland and Southwest Michigan.
What We Provide:
Hours and Compensation:
Mon-Fri 8:30 am – 5 pm. Minimum 40 hours per week with flexibility for site visits.
$60,000 - $70,000 base salary.

Paid Holidays. Paid Time Off (up to 10 days in first year) and Paid Sick time (up to 40 hours each year). Medical and dental insurance plans (PPO/HSA and HMO options). Dental Insurance. Retirement plan available after 1 year of employment & minimum 1000 hours of worked. Complimentary Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability plans. Relocation not included.
