Labourer Summer Student

Dawson Road Maintenance is looking for a Summer Student. A hardworking and motivated individual with a strong work ethic, eager to contribute to the team as a dedicated labourer. Committed to executing tasks efficiently and safely to ensure a productive work environment.

In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Road Maintenance, working in a temporary full-time position of Summer Student, reporting to the Road Foreman. This position is ideal for those looking for full-time summer work and/or students interested in the construction and road maintenance industry who are looking to try something new over the summer. First preference shall be given to the children of current employees. Your base location will be Fort St. John, B.C. and may require some travel throughout our great province.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

• Must prioritize safety of self and others in all aspects of the job.

• Mowing, whipper snipping and general clean-up of DRM’s yards and pits.

• Rest area maintenance/clean-up.

• Pullout, roadside & drainage appliance maintenance/clean-up

• Road, drainage, and sign inspections 

• Vegetation and brush clean-up and removal.

• Shop and equipment maintenance/clean-up.

• Ability to operate small tools and equipment safely.

• Willingness to be part of special project/crew assignments as required.

WHAT YOU BRING

• A positive attitude

• Ability to work independently or in a team setting.

• Ability to follow instructions.

• Strong communication skills.

• Be comfortable with technology and daily use of an iPad.

• Must be enrolled in full time post-secondary school.

• Ability to perform laborious work in all weather conditions.

• Be able to lift 50 lbs safely.

• Valid Class 5 - Driver’s license is an asset.
