Labourer

POSITION SUMMARY

To provide front-line support for industrial projects such as warehousing, and construction.  Shift rotation is dependent on the project needs, working 12 hours per day. This role will be a team oriented and will be working with a highly progressive and motivated team.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

·        Attend daily toolbox, safety and other meetings or discussions.

·        Perform pre-shift trip safety inspections and complete daily equipment reports.

·        Prepare working area and adhere to all job safety requirements prior to starting work.

·        Maintain good housekeeping practices.

·        Manual labour, cleaning and preparing area on site.

·        Work safely around heavy mining equipment.

·        May be required to perform parts delivery to various TNDC jobsites within the Tahltan territory.

·        Participate in any other specified training as recommended.

·        Assist in general labour and other duties as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

·        Grade 12 or equivalent.

·        Equipment knowledge an asset.

·        Experience working on a job site is an asset.

·        WHMIS certificate preferred.

·        Valid driver’s license required; must be able to provide current driving record.

·        Proven commitment to safety, health, and environmental standards.

·        Able to take direction, follow instructions, adapt to changing priorities and multi-task.

·        Strong work ethic with an ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

·        Reliable and dependable.

·        Strong oral and written communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is based in a field environment and must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, good physical condition, stamina, and handle up to 50 lbs. Must also be able to work both day and night shifts, as well as rotational shifts.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

·        Pass mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and fitness for work assessment.

·        Physically fit to meet job requirements; able to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.

·        Ability to maintain performance during duration of shift and extreme weather conditions.

·        Ability to travel to site for rotational work.

·        Certificate – Class 5 Driver’s License.

·        Certificate - Class 7N Driver's License.
