LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technician who shall thoroughly learn, execute, and follow research protocols developed by the Lead Researchers. Excellence in the recording and organization of data is absolutely required. Effective research requires both precision and adaptability, so the Laboratory Technician is expected to be an excellent team player and communicator.


This role will support our London, Ontario facility, with an on-site work structure of a  2-2-3 continental 12 hour shift and reports to the Principal Investigator. 

HOW YOU WILL MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT MATTER

  • Promote a Health and Safety, Food Safety and GMP Culture by adhering to company standards at all times. 

  • You must be able to develop technical competence with different tools and platforms rapidly. 

  • Assist in the preparation for experiments, including preparing media, working with small tools, modifying equipment, and preparing documentation.

  • Support trial launches by ensuring compliance with written protocols and collaborating with other teams.

  • Collect specimens following appropriate methods and prepare them for storage or processing.

  • Process specimens using lab techniques including microscopy, dissection, dehydration, and others.

  • Enter and analyze data.

  • Observe standard and experimental processes, develop insights, and suggest changes or trials that have not been considered.

  • Participate as a valued, active, contributing member of a dynamic research team.

  • Other related duties and required or assigned.


WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in Science Field (Biology, Microbiology, Entomology or related field required).

  • 1 - 3 years prior lab experience in Microbiology. 

  • Experience with technical writing and/or data analysis, data entry, statistical knowledge and microscopy. 

  • Proven ability to remain focused on accurate data collection and analysis are required.

  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to make the necessary decisions to move forward the work at hand. 

  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently. 

  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts. 

  • Demonstrates scientific curiosity.

  • Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines. 

  • Strong attention to detail in all areas of work.
