ProChem is looking for an individual with a love of chemistry and a passion for research and development to work in our treatability laboratory. Our treatability laboratory develops and tests treatment programs for various industrial wastewater streams, provides ongoing customer support, and conducts research and development for ProChem's own product lines. We are looking for someone who is safety conscious, highly motivated and organized to work within this laboratory setting.

This position will be working daily at our office in Elliston, VA and will report to our Laboratory Director. 

This position will have the opportunity to interact with customers inside and outside of our business, with various reports including factors such as ROI, capital costs, recurring costs, feasibility, scalability, and so on. Must adhere to strict QC/QA procedures as well as health and safety guidelines. 

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s in chemistry or chemical engineering (chemistry preferred)
  • Work Experience: 2 years preferred
  • Work Environment: Laboratory Setting preferred
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 50 lbs and stand or walk for long periods of time

Competencies:

  • Basic laboratory calculations
  • Ability to read and understand laboratory SOPs, EPA methods, other literature as needed
  • Ability to adhere to safety measures/procedures

Duties:

  • Helping to design physical and chemical wastewater treatment plans
  • Conducting bench scale testing of proposed treatment plans
  • Running membrane systems for pilot scale wastewater treatment
  • Conducting general analytical testing of wastewater samples
  • Performing general laboratory maintenance and cleaning
  • Maintaining laboratory documentation
  • Communicate with internal staff accurately and efficiently regarding testing data and/or project status
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory inventory of chemicals and supplies
  • Manage chemical and biohazard waste in laboratories, adhering to regulatory guidance
  • Other duties as assigned
