About Working on a “Floatel” 

LandSea will be providing workforce catering and accommodation services for guests onboard the MV Isabelle, a 650-passenger “Floatel”. The Floatel will be permanently docked in Squamish, B.C. and is estimated to operate for up to three years.  

At work, the crew is provided with accommodation, full meals, and WIFI, and can access health/gym facilities when off work. We provide partial uniforms and help with the travel/reservations as needed to and from locations. Excellent Health and Wellness benefits are being offered.

 

About the Opportunity  

We currently have six openings for Kitchen Helper. 

This position is responsible for assisting in preparing meals and ensuring the kitchen, dining, and living areas are always clean and sanitary. This position requires the ability to follow directions and be diligent, focused, and consistent. Comfort with kitchen equipment and knife skills are required. 

Applicants must have minimum 2 years’ experience in a hotel or cruise ship and must have the ability to work long shifts, weekends, holidays in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.  Available to work multiple rotations. Must have good verbal and written communication skills (read, write, and speak English). Meticulous attention to detail and well-developed organizational skills. Strong work ethic with an ability to work independently, and as a team player who supports, motivates, and encourages others.  

 

General Duties and Responsibilities 

Assist cooks with basic food preparation, including food portioning and service.

Support the kitchen and dining staff in cleaning and resetting tables.

Assist in the kitchen where required during production.

Maintain adequate stock of food and drink in serving areas and minimize leftovers and product waste. 

Clean and sanitize all kitchen work areas including all kitchen equipment and appliances.
Clean and operate dishwashing machines.

Clean and sanitize dishes, glasses, utensils, and cookware. 

Load and unload the dishwasher.

Wash, sweep and mop floors/all areas.
Remove trash and garbage and place it in designated containers. 

Manage and stock inventory for the kitchens, dining areas, dishwashers, cook stations, etc.

Ensure courteous, efficient, and friendly customer and employee interactions.

Follow principles of sanitation and safety guidelines in handling food and equipment at all times.

Other duties may be assigned as required.


Qualifications 

Completion of High School, GED, or related area

Must hold a valid food safety certificate. 

Must provide at least 2 professional work references. 

Must provide photo identification (PDF of photo ID) to verify identity during virtual interview.

Physical Requirements 

Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch for long periods.  

Repeat the same movements including fast, repetitive movements of fingers, hands, and wrists.  

Use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 lbs.  

Use hands to handle objects and tools.

Ability to clear a drug and alcohol test before hiring and potential random tests throughout employment with prior notice.
