Junior or Intermediate Draftsperson
The Junior/Intermediate Draftsperson will be responsible for the development and preparation of engineering designs and drawings using AutoCAD and ensuring that design drawings conform to specifications and design data. This individual will work under the supervision of the Principal Engineer and senior technical staff to gain experience in mechanical design, testing, and manufacturing processes, while contributing to the growth of a cutting-edge start-up in Alberta’s industrial sector.
Key Responsibilities:Assist in the design and development of mechanical components.
Prepare and revise engineering drawings using CAD software.
Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets.
Support senior engineer and technical staff in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical issues.
Collaborate with production teams to ensure designs are feasible for manufacturing.
Participate in design reviews and contribute to product improvement discussions.
Ensure all work complies with industry standards, safety regulations, and design data.
Respond quickly to the shop floor's needs in response to addressing issues that may surface during production.
Additional tasks and duties as required.
Post-secondary diploma with an emphasis on design/drafting.
1-3 years of experience in a design/drafting role (Junior) or 3-5 years (Intermediate).
Knowledge of drafting software (AutoCAD).
Ability to use cost-estimating software to prepare cost quotes and bids.
Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations in manufacturing.
Strong working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
