General Summary
The IT Systems Specialist is responsible for timely response to help desk tickets and IT support. Support may include installing, administering, maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment. This role will be included in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.
The IT Systems Specialist must carry out the essential duties of this position in a manner that consistently demonstrates our mission, vision, and core values of the organization in a positive manner.
Tasks, Duties & Functions
- Serves as first point of contact for help desk tickets and support.
- Recognizes when to escalate tickets to the appropriate internal and external partners.
- Ensures timely deployment and effective communication of updates for patch management.
- Installs, configures, maintains, and upgrades computers, network infrastructure and peripherals which may include upgrading operating systems, application software, and submitting recommendations for changes to keep the Credit Union relevant.
- Administers network user and computer account information (including permissions and email distribution groups).
- Manages backup processes to include log review, issue resolution, and restore testing.
- Administers phone system to include adds, changes, and reporting.
- Tracks and maintains inventory of hardware, software, peripherals, and network equipment (including location of equipment).
- Run cable(s) as required for new installations and office reconfiguration.
- Updates and maintains procedure documentation as needed.
- Seeks to create an excellent user experience for onboarding and providing the correct tools for each member of the credit union team as appropriate for their role.

Knowledge & Skills
- Requires high school diploma, associate degree in Information Systems or at least two years’ experience on installation, maintenance, administration, and general support of systems.
- Combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of above requirements.
- Strong understanding of computer hardware (client & server) with an ability to troubleshoot hardware-based problems.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows PC operating systems (client & server).
- Knowledge of Microsoft domains and Active Directory; Microsoft Office Suite (including Office 365).
- Understanding of TCP/IP, Ethernet, and Internet networks.
- Experience with data and voice cabling.
- Knowledge of backup systems, devices and services, data storage technology (raid, NAS, and SAN).
- Ability to research and resolve issues and interpret a variety of technical documents and manuals.
- Well-developed interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to establish effective working relationships.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective working independently or as a collaborative team member and support other critical functions throughout the department and credit union.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to all branch locations.
- Must be bondable.
Working Conditions
- Works in a well-lighted and ventilated office setting.
- Sitting, standing, bending, and lifting required during working hours.
- Computer room is subject to cooler temperatures and increased noise levels due to equipment; however, exposure is not necessary for prolonged periods.
- Some job duties required work outside of the normal scope of a typical office environment, such as working from a ladder to install cable.
