SUMMARY

The IT Manager’s role is to ensure the streamlined operation of the IT department in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. The IT Manager will plan, coordinate, direct and design IT related activities of the organization, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the IT department. Scott Enterprises owns and operates hotels, restaurants and resorts requiring operating systems to be online and supported 365 days a year.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, which may include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:

 

  • Lead the IT departments operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects, organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT systems, including telecommunications, servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, peripherals, sound systems, and networked office copiers/equipment.  
  • Benchmark, analyze, report on and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
  • Oversee all help desk activities at the regional level; responds to escalated help desk issues.
  • Oversee the administration and maintenance of the company's infrastructure and WAN.
  • Oversee troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery and provides expert support when necessary.
  • Interact with internal clients on all levels to help resolve IT-related issues and provides answers in a timely manner.
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Manage the purchase and/or licensing of hardware and software products.
  • Administer vendor/consultant contracts and service agreements.
  • Responsible for asset management for IT hardware, software and equipment.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analysis for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Hold regular status meetings with team and keeps team well informed of changes within the organization and general news. Train staff on all new technologies.
  • Manage IT department staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, and disciplinary actions.
  • Effectively communicate relevant IT-related information to Ownership and Directors.
  • Relay relevant IT-related information to the company in a timely manner.
  • Initiate and implements improvements in all areas of IT responsibility.  
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Strong technical and hands-on knowledge of network and PC operating systems.
  • Strong technical and hands-on knowledge of current network hardware, protocols and standards.
  • Extensive application support experience.
  • Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Ability to react quickly and address the changing needs and emergent issues of a 24/7, 365- day organization.
  • Strong leadership skills, experience managing staff and high level of self- motivation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required.
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Ability to perform general mathematical calculations for creating business cases, budgets, etc.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical, evaluative and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation.
  • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

  • Minimum of Associate’s degree in computer networking or information systems; four-year degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of related work experience.
  • Experience with the following; exchange on premise, Office 365, SQL Server, Active Directory, Solarwinds, SonicWALL, Acronis, and Sophos.
  • Prior experience in IT Manager role.

  • Must be able to participate in on-call emergency coverage needs, 365 days a year.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools and to handle other computer components; requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand and eye movement.
  • Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
  • Positioning and transporting moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
