CCNM is currently looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Intermediate Accountant to support the Finance Department.  Reporting to the Controller, the successful candidate will provide financial and administrative support in the Finance department and support the College at large in Account Maintenance and Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger accounting.

DUTIES

  • Maintains and ensures completeness of tuition payment plan (TPP) forms and promissory notes submitted by students; communicates with students about the TPP
  • Processes all US loan requests through G5 and coordinate disbursement of US loans to students within 10 business days of notification from SSO office.
  • Processes and posts student monthly late payment fees in SONIS
  • Responsible for student accounts receivable collection and escalates issues to the Controller if necessary, this also includes payment collections on student balances.
  • Conducts monthly reconciliation of Scholarships & Bursaries, US loans – G5 account, Student Payment Clearing Account
  • Prepares T4A for Bursaries and Scholarships from SONIS, and send T4A Summary to Controller by the end of January
  • Manages the finance email inbox on a daily basis, forwarding items to other finance staff where required and answering all queries
  • Responsible for posting student payments in SONIS to ensure account balances are accurately updated.
  • Help Reconcile/book transactions processed through the clinic for all payment types.
  • Help booking investment transactions.
  • Assists the Finance Team as requested

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-Secondary education in accounting or related discipline
  • Completion or enrolment in a CPA program or equivalent is preferred
  • A minimum of 2-3 years experience in a similar accounting position preferably in a not-for-profit charitable sector and/or educational institution
  • Functional knowledge of general ledger, payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable operations
  • Good interpersonal skills able to communicate effectively oral and written to all levels of staff as well as external contacts with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional organizational skills and detail orientation
  • Experienced with Microsoft Dynamics NAV and other relevant accounting software
  • Advanced Excel skills and solid understanding in other MS Office products
  • Exemplary customer service skills to deal with a wide variety of internal and external clients
