Intake Specialist
Overview
The Intake Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring clients receive appropriate evaluations and necessary support from our wound care team. This position is responsible for managing the intake process, collecting information, verifying insurance details and maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations while utilizing various software programs, including electronic health record platforms. The ideal candidate must have strong administrative skills, acute attention to detail and the ability to provide excellent customer service. This position is essential for providing quality care and support to our patients from their first interaction onward, making it a rewarding opportunity for those passionate about healthcare administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage clients in a supportive and reassuring manner and assist them through the intake process.
- Collect and verify patient information, including medical history and insurance details.
- Utilize electronic health record systems for data entry and information management.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations during patient interactions and data handling.
- Coordinate with frontline staff to streamline patient flow and enhance service delivery..
- Maintain organized records and documentation for all patient interactions.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families and healthcare providers in order to effectively address inquiries or concerns.
Requirements
- Proven experience in an administrative role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Strong patient service skills with a focus on empathy and professionalism.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Athenahealth, Epic, or eClinicalWorks is highly desirable.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; bilingual abilities are an advantage.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in data collection and entry.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
