ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Appleby College’s Overnight Camps and Summer Boarding
Programs provide participants from around the world and locally with
exceptional opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and cultural
exchange.
Participants enjoy a full day of camp programming followed by an enriching
boarding experience on Appleby’s scenic 60-acre campus. The Summer Boarding
Program mirrors the Appleby student experience—participants live in residence,
attend classes, and take part in extracurricular activities and off-campus

This combined position provides continuity of leadership and support for
participants during both the Appleby Overnight Camps and the Summer Boarding
Program, ensuring a seamless transition between experiences.
THE ROLE
Residing on campus, the Instructor & Boarding Staff is responsible for the supervision, programming, and overall well-being of participants throughout both the overnight camp and boarding periods. Reporting to the Appleby Overnight Program Director and the Program Director, Summer Boarding Programs, this position supports Appleby’s mission to deliver an exceptional on-campus living and learning experience.
WHAT MAKES THIS JOB AWESOME
- Overnight Camps (July 5 – July 26, 2026, Sunday to Friday
Weekly)
- Supervise and lead campers during weekday evening programming and recreational activities.
- Oversee the boarding house to ensure the safety and well-being of each camper.
- Participate in all aspects of the weekday camper experience, including meals, evening events, and lights-out routines.
- Support the Appleby Overnight Program Director and the Assistant Director, Ancillary Boarding Programs to promote open communication and a cohesive residence culture.
- Assist with planning and delivering evening programming during the week.
- Maintain detailed communication regarding incidents or behavioural concerns.
- Capture photos and videos when Communications Team members are unavailable.
- Summer Boarding (July 27 – August 23, 2026)
- Supervise boarding participants in residence to ensure safety, inclusion, and engagement.
- Support the Program Director, Summer Boarding, in planning activities and excursions.
- Lead recreation programs during evenings and weekends.
- Promote a welcoming, inclusive community that encourages personal growth and respect.
- Coordinate with day-program staff and instructors to ensure participants are prepared for each day’s schedule.
- Drive students to activities and weekend excursions as needed (using Appleby vehicles).
- Assist with airport arrivals and departures, providing exceptional participant care.
YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU:
- Are enrolled in post-secondary education.
- Have prior experience working in boarding, camps, or recreation programs (an asset).
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Can communicate in a second or multiple languages (an asset).
- Remain calm and effective in emergencies.
- Are reliable, professional, team-oriented, and creative.
- Hold Standard First Aid and CPR – C certification.
- Have Bronze Cross and/or NLS lifeguarding certification (an asset).
- Possess a valid Ontario G driver’s licence (for use of Appleby vehicles).
- Are available to live on campus for the duration of the contract.

Living on campus is required during training and program delivery.
