As the Head Instructor, you will lead the planning and delivery of specialty programming within your assigned camp discipline—Discovery, Arts & Media, Science & Success, or Sports & Adventure. You will supervise and support instructors, ensure high-quality programming, and create a safe, inclusive, and engaging experience for all campers.
WHAT IS AMAZING ABOUT THIS JOB:
- Develop, plan, and lead program activities within your discipline
- Supervise, mentor, and support instructors and volunteers
- Oversee activity schedules to ensure smooth coordination across camp programs
- Lead specialized instructional sessions that deliver high-quality skill development
- Ensure adherence to all camp procedures and Appleby policies, including the Mutual Respect Policy
- Support problem-solving and positive behaviour management
- Ensure all staff receive required training related to health and safety
- Maintain the safety and supervision of campers, staff, and visitors
YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU:
- Have completed or are entering at least your second year of post-secondary education
- Bring strong instructional experience in your program discipline
- Demonstrate excellent leadership and team management abilities
- Communicate effectively with staff, campers, and families
- Possess strong time management and organizational skills
- Are enthusiastic, energetic, and creative
- Have effective problem-solving skills in dynamic environments
- Hold Bronze Cross and/or NLS certification (an asset)
- Training & Orientation (Mandatory) - Wednesday, March 4, 2026 (Evening) - Saturday, March 14, 2026 (Full Day)
- Program Hours - Monday: 7:15 a.m.–4:15 p.m. - Tuesday–Friday: 8:15 a.m.–4:15 p.m.
- Before- and After-Care Additional shifts may be scheduled. - Before-Care: 7:15–8:15 a.m. - After-Care: 4:15–5:30 p.m.
- Criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening (18+) OR declaration for those under 18
- Standard First Aid and CPR–C (valid until end of contract)
