IMC is currently hiring a Full Time Registered Nurse (RN) for our Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, who under the general supervision of the Unit Manager and with the authority of the Chief Nursing Officer, will apply nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation) in caring for patients.  Effectively interact with patient, significant others, and other heath team members.  Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, education, safety and related criteria for the adult and geriatric population.

SCHEDULE:

  • Full Time Schedule - Nights - 7p - 7a

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of state approved RN School of Nursing with current license to practice in Louisiana
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or schedule to take at IMC at next offering
  • Preferred- Certification in clinical specialty area (Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse)

TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience preferred, but not required. 

JOB KNOWLEDGE

  • Basic knowledge of nursing process and principles
  • Basic knowledge of biology and chemistry.
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Thorough knowledge of nursing procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assesses, collaborates and coordinates in planning of patient's discharge needs and readiness for discharge.
  • Participates in departmental and hospital improvement plan.
  • Functions as a positive role model for peers and promotes a professional image of Iberia Medical Center.
  • Maintains confidentiality, security, and integrity of patient and organizational data
  • Consistently lives by Iberia Medical Centers Standards of Performance

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • The physical essential functions of this job include (but are not limited to) the following: 
    • Frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects; occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force.
    • Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work.

    • Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.
    • The incumbent works in a patient care area;  incumbent has an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.
  • Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
