Infirmier(ère) en santé au travail / Occupational Health Nurse
Reporting to the Senior Coordinator Health Services, the Occupational Health Nurse will assist the Senior Coordinator in the management of health-related activities. Based at the Windfall site, located in the Nord-du-Québec region, he/she will be called upon to work a schedule of 15 days of work followed by 13 days of leave. Transportation, lodging and meals provided.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assess the physical and mental condition of workers who consult him/her;
- Provide care and monitor the health of workers, including in emergency situations;
- Conduct medical evacuations, as required;
- Establish and maintain workers' medical files;
- Manage occupational and personal disability files, and facilitate employees' return to work;
- Follow up on pre-employment medical examinations;
- Follow-up on annual medical examinations for emergency brigades;
- Participate in setting up and maintaining nursing procedures;
- Participate in biological monitoring of workers' exposure to the various physical aggressors present in their work environment;
- Promote health through various means;
- Participate in the implementation and maintenance of psychosocial risk management initiatives;
- Participate in the implementation of education and awareness programs aimed at improving workers' health (health and wellness program);
- Work closely with departmental managers;
- Train, inform and advise employees on health issues, including leading meetings and various activities;
- Collaborate and promote synergy with the SSI department, particularly with regard to CNESST prevention and compensation files and any other common files;
- Participate in training activities for emergency response teams;
- Conduct drug & alcohol screenings, as required;
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies;
- Assist supervisor with duties;
- Ensure that the Company complies with all occupational health standards;
- Participate in improvement initiatives;
- Comply at all times with occupational health and safety and environmental policies and rules, and ensure compliance by staff;
- Perform any other duties related to the Occupational Health Nurse position that are relevant to the success of the project.
Qualifications required
- Required qualifications University degree or college diploma in nursing combined with at least five (5) years' experience as a nurse;
- Member of the OIIQ;
- Training and experience in expanded role;
- Valid class 5 driver's license.
Technical skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, etc.);
- Bilingualism (English and French);
- Experience in the mining or industrial field, in emergency (e.g. in a dispensary or hospital setting);
- Demonstrated experience in disability file management;
- ACLS and EPICC training (an asset);
- Experience working in remote areas.
