Pete’s Tire Barns was started by Peter A. Gerry in 1968 and has grown to one of the largest independent tire dealerships in the country. Pete’s currently operates 22 full-service locations in New England, a state-of-the art Distribution Center, 3 Bandag retread facilities, employs in excess of 300 people, and operates a fleet of over 100 service and delivery vehicles. Today, approximately 90% of our business is in the commercial truck tire and related markets. Pete's services everything from a wheelbarrow tire up to an earthmover tire.

Qualifications:

  • Driver's License preferred
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience providing Industrial Tire Service at customer locations preferred 

Requirements:

  • Responsible for the replacement of worn tires on all types of material handling vehicles at customer’s locations
  • Maintains and organizes tire inventory in the warehouse and assist in other shop jobs as requested
  • Must be able to prioritizes work orders, perform work in a safe manner, and ensures all paperwork is submitted timely and accurately
  • Safely remove old tires and position them on the press
  • Sets up and operates tire press to press the new tires on the customer’s hubs
  • Assembling wheel components per tire specifications
  • Responsible for providing professional customer service and maintaining the provided Pete’s Tire Barn truck and tools
  • Communicates with Industrial Segment Manager to ensure Pete’s Tire Barns has proper inventory
  • Ability to learn mounting procedures, techniques and equipment used for mounting solid industrial tires
  • Ability to operate industrial equipment, i.e. Forklift, Hydraulic Press, and tire mounting equipment
  • Possess a basic mechanical ability
  • Have the ability to work overtime as necessary
  • Perform heavy lifting, bending, and climbing in and out of a truck
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Maintains a safe workplace
  • Maintains professionalism on the job at all times
  • Performs other shop duties as required

Physical Demands:

Exerts 75 to 125 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequently reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction), handles (seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or working with hands), and identifies and distinguishes colors. Occasionally climbs (ascends or descends ladders, stairs, ramps, and the like), balances. Occasionally stoops (bending the body downward and forward by bending at the waist, legs and spine), and kneels (bending the legs at knee to come to rest on knee or knees).
