Human Resources Coordinator
The Human Resources Coordinator will be responsible for providing day-to-day support in employment functions including recruitment, onboarding, training and development, payroll, performance management and employee relations.
This is a hardworking, hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves environment emphasizing a team-oriented and collaborative style. It will be key for the candidate to embrace change and see past obstacles with a focus on solutions in the context of a company undergoing rapid growth and ongoing functional integration.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assists with full-cycle recruitment functions
- Handles coordination and execution of new employee onboarding procedures, updating onboarding information as required
- Ensures accuracy of employee files and processing of employee changes in HRIS
- Coordination of the organization’s group benefit plan, making changes as necessary
- Responds to routine inquiries and provides information and assistance with a variety of employee and management questions
- Responsible for weekly and monthly reporting procedures
- Assists with the development and implementation of new training to staff
- Supports employee engagement and retention through HR best practices
- Supports and performs staff offboarding activities as required
- Assists in the coordination, execution, and analysis of staff surveys
- Assists the HR manager in the execution and maintenance of CIG’s annual and mid-year performance appraisal system
- Supports the HR Manager in investigating employee relations matters and proposing resolutions
- Assists with the development and maintenance of position profile documents
- Assists with the coordination and execution of the annual compensation review
- Assists with the planning and execution of internal staff events, including annual parties, monthly socials, etc.
- Act as a representative on the Occupational Health & Safety committee to assist with CIG in ensuring a safe workplace
- Assists with preparation of bi-weekly payroll as required
- Attending off-site conferences and events (I.e., job fairs, seminars, etc.) as required
- Assisting the HR Manager in maintaining, developing and implementing new HR policies and communications
- Ensuring strict confidentiality when handling sensitive employee issues
- Assists the HR Manager with special requests and projects that may be outside of day-to-day responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary educational degree/diploma/certificate in Human Resources, is a strong asset
- Minimum 1-year experience in a direct HR capacity, or a comparable position
- Experience using an HRIS is considered a strong asset
- Outstanding attention to detail, partnered with strong administration and organization skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are required, including the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with all departments and levels of staff
- Sound judgement and analytical thinking that enables decision making,
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and prioritize activities based on deadlines
- Self-reliance, with the ability to take initiative and make decisions under time constraints
- Must have the ability to provide a criminal records check that is clear of any charges that could be related or have a direct correlation to the position or company
- Must have a driver’s license and access to a vehicle to travel for work activities as required
- All employees must be 19+
Job Details
Reports to: Human Resources Manager
Salary: Starts at $45,000 annually
Status: Full-time, 1-year contract position
Schedule: regularly 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, subject to change as per operational requirements

- Must be able to complete duties with minimal supervision and comfortable working independently and safely in a group environment

- Must be comfortable with completing highly repetitive computer tasks with focused attention and accuracy
Physical Demands
- Must be comfortable sitting at a desk and working at a computer for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including but not limited to: pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 50lbs), standing, and walking for prolonged periods of time
Environmental Demands
- Fast-paced office environment with quickly changing priorities
- This position may involve exposure to cannabis/plant materials and is therefore not likely suitable for anyone that may suffer from allergies to cannabis, or for anyone that experiences medical issues as a result of exposure to cannabis materials
- Strong scent of cannabis plants
