HSA25-03 Facility Maintenance Coordinator

Located in the beautiful Okanagan Valley, SOWINS is a non-profit society providing safe refuge and community-based resources for women and children in the South Okanagan. SOWINS operates a transitional and second stage housing facilities, as well as counselling and outreach services. At SOWINS we work from an intersectional feminist philosophy and support trauma-informed practice and harm reduction models.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are currently recruiting for a temporary Part-Time Facility Maintenance Coordinator to join our team (until return of incumbent). The Facility Maintenance Coordinator coordinates and performs overall maintenance of SOWINS properties including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry; garbage and recycling coordination; painting; equipment repair; and grounds maintenance. The Facility Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive preventative maintenance program.
Schedule: This position is scheduled to work 21 hours per week, working Monday, Wednesday and Friday's from 9:00am - 4:30pm. Occasional weekend and evening availability required for special events as needed.
Union: This position requires union membership, under Health Sciences Association (HSA).
Wage: $29.17 – $33.49 per hour depending on length of service (HSA Grid 12).

Start Date: April 14, 2025
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Completion of a Diploma in Building Maintenance from a recognized post-secondary institution; including courses related to carpentry, electrical, painting, mechanical and plumbing.
Three (3) years of recent related experience.
WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) Training
Standard First Aid with CPR
Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License
