Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate, mission-aligned High School World History Teacher to join our dynamic high school team. This role requires a strong command of global historical content, effective instructional practices, and a deep belief in the potential of every student. The ideal candidate will engage students in exploring world civilizations, cultural movements, and global interdependence while developing their analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.

Key Responsibilities:Instruction & Curriculum Delivery
  • Develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that meet North Carolina's high school World History curriculum.

  • Teach essential content including ancient civilizations, world religions, empires, revolutions, global conflicts, and the modern world.

  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, including inquiry-based learning, primary source analysis, and project-based learning.

  • Integrate technology and cross-curricular connections to deepen student understanding.

  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.

Classroom Culture & Student Support
  • Create a structured, student-centered classroom environment that promotes respect, curiosity, and critical dialogue.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs and abilities.

  • Foster strong relationships with students and maintain high expectations for academic performance and behavior.

  • Promote social-emotional learning and a safe, inclusive classroom culture.

  • Communicate regularly with families to share student progress and promote collaboration.

Collaboration & Professional Growth
  • Collaborate with colleagues, instructional coaches, and content leads to align curriculum and improve student outcomes.

  • Participate in professional development, coaching cycles, and school-wide initiatives.

  • Contribute to the school community through meetings, events, and committee participation.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to reflection and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, or a related field (required)

  • Valid North Carolina teaching license or eligibility for licensure in Secondary Social Studies (preferred)

  • Experience teaching high school Social Studies or World History (preferred)

  • Strong classroom management, instructional planning, and assessment skills
