JOB SUMMARY:
The HR Business Partner is a strategic, client-facing role responsible for leading high-level HR operations, building strong client relationships, and working alongside HR Coordinators in delivering exceptional service. This role handles escalated employee relations matters, complex compliance issues, and supports clients through strategic planning and organizational development. The Senior HR Business Partner represents innovateHR in weekly client meetings, weekly networking events, and serves as a trusted advisor to assigned clients. This position upholds innovateHR’s guarantee of responding to all clients within two hours.
THE DAY-TO-DAY OPERATIONS:
· Serve as the primary strategic HR advisor for assigned clients, leading high‑level conversations and long‑term planning.
· Conduct regular client strategy calls, weekly onsite visits, and relationship‑building meetings.
· Represent innovateHR at networking events, client meetings, and community/business functions.
· Provide expert guidance on employee relations matters, including coaching, corrective action, investigations, and terminations.
· Oversee escalated Leave of Absence cases (FMLA, Non-FMLA, ADA, WC) and guide clients through the ADA interactive process.
· Review and approve complex payroll changes, compensation updates, and sensitive pay decisions.
· Lead and oversee complex benefits issues, escalations, and renewal strategies.
· Partner with brokers and carriers regarding escalated benefits matters.
· Create and analyze employee surveys, summarize findings, and prepare strategic recommendations.
· Review and approve Employee Handbook updates and escalated compliance matters.
· Lead client transitions, implementations, or platform migrations as assigned.
· Monitor project timelines to ensure deliverables align with client expectations.
· Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILL SETS
· Ability to manage multiple clients, projects, and deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
· Expert interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, and influence skills.
· Advanced knowledge of HR best practices, compliance requirements, and multi-state regulations.
· Exceptional judgment with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
· Skilled in HRIS systems, payroll platforms, benefits systems, and project management tools.
· Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced remote environment and work independently.
· Must be a team player, curious, resourceful, and solutions‑oriented.
· Must maintain responsiveness to client inquiries within expected service standards.
· Regular travel to client sites on a weekly basis and monthly travel to Greenville, SC for team meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field
· 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including employees relations and compliance
· Demonstrated success communicating with leadership teams and external stakeholders
· Must have reliable transportation on a weekly and monthly basis to travel to client sites
