Housing Support Program Coordinator - Stepping Stones Shelter

Responsibilities: The Stepping Stones Program Coordinator is an integral member of the Stepping Stones team working together to provide meaningful supports for clients/residents in a flexible, compassionate, and responsible manner.

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Education and/r experience in human services, supported housing, or vulnerable populations, or other relevant training in the human services field;
  • Mental Health First Aid/Willingness to get;
  • Knowledge & understanding of Indigenous Culture; 
  • Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's Licence & reliable vehicle;
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills;
  • Computer skills (including Microsoft Office, email communication & Data entry);
  • Must pass Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Check;
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
  • Demonstrate a pro-active approach, flexibility, tolerance, perseverance & competence;
  • Understanding of the principles and practices of Trauma Informed Care;
  • Experience working with people with mental health, substance misuse and/or cognitive disabilities;
  • Excellent time management skills;

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Connecting and supporting participants to permanent housing;
  • Provide culturally sensitive programming, case management, counselling and other needed services to clients;
  • Referring clients to budget counselling and supports to build sustainable financial skills;
  • Working with Coordinated access and HIFIS;
  • Connecting clients to other community services;
  • Assisting clients with identification by connecting to resources to obtain necessary identification for housing;
  • Developing and coordinating the day program, including activities and programming that build on the life skills that lead to independence;
  • Assisting in the implementation of support plans and case-management including follow-up for clients;
  • Assisting clients applying for Social Assistance;
  • Provide leadership to staff members in all areas, including confidentiality, positive work environment, & conflict resolution;
  • Maintain written & computerized records, compile reports and complete other program documents (case notes, stats, letters, etc.);
  • Be available for an "on-call" schedule;
  • Ensure critical incidents are properly documented and reported to the manager;
  • Transport clients to appointments when required;
  • Attend interagency meetings as required;
  • Uphold & maintain policies and procedures for all programs;
  • Assist with meals for clients as requested;
  • Daily coordination with Stepping Stones Manager & Supervisor;
  • Assume responsibilities of the Supervisor in their absence;
  • At all times work towards the achievement of YWCA Prince Albert Vision & Mission Statements;
  • All other duties as required;
