Housekeeping Attendant

McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, a family-owned company that has been part of the Calgary community and leader in the funeral services industry for over 120 years, is seeking a dedicated and professional Housekeeping Attendant to join our growing team. 

This full-time position works 75 hours bi-weekly with every second weekend off. The core hours for this role are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. With 10 locations in the Calgary area and a staff of over 130 amazing people, this role offers plenty of variety in day-to-day tasks. 

This position is a key role with McInnis & Holloway. You are helping to create lasting impressions for all families and guests that visit our homes. You help us put our best foot forward.  

Key Responsibilities: 

• Thoroughly clean funeral homes in accordance with company standards including but not limited to: 
• Vacuuming, dusting, cleaning windows, mirrors, and artwork
• Upkeep of woodwork throughout 
• Cleaning individual offices, as well as meeting rooms, visitation rooms, and chapels
• Cleaning washrooms
• Emptying garbage, recycle bins, and compost containers
• Maintaining floor tiles and laminate including waxing and stripping
• Cleaning the staff and prep kitchens
• Loading and unloading dishwashers
• Maintaining the front entrance (inside and outside) ensuring any rocks, leaves, snow, or debris is removed
• Watering and dusting plants
• Making coffee and cookies for families during arrangements – ensuring arrangement rooms are stocked ahead of family meeting times
• Ordering stock and supplies for cleaning, lunchroom, and various events 
• Other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For: 

• Care and compassion for our industry
• Minimum of 2 years commercial cleaning experience
• Familiarity and knowledge of the operation or handling of the various equipment and chemicals used in cleaning
• Strong attention to detail
• Positive and empathetic personality
• Ability to commute between our various locations in Calgary
• Ability to work 7 AM to 3 PM, with every 2nd weekend off
• Professional image and comfortable wearing a uniform
• Physically able to stand and walk for long periods, push, pull, bend, crouch, reach overhead, climb small ladders, and lift up to 20 KG
• Ability to provide a clear background check
