Are you a morning person?  Shifts available M-F 5am-8am

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Housekeeping Director, Housekeeping staff is responsible for assisting members and other staff to consistently maintain a clean, sanitary, and attractive facility, including such duties as mopping, dusting, laundry, and trash removal.  May complete duties related to window washing, meeting set up, pressure washing, snow removal, grounds keeping, and other related responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Ensures Y is attractive to all members and guests by maintaining a high level of cleanliness in facility by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule or checklist. May perform wet and dry mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool deck cleaning, pressure washing, painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal, and general cleaning.
  2. Operates related motorized and non-motorized cleaning equipment.
  3. Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed.
  4. Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
  5. Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies.
  6. Maintains laundry (towels) to ensure consistent supply for members.
  7. Open and close the facility (depending on scheduled shift), including arming and disarming alarm system.
  8. Follow all program and procedures including Child Abuse Prevention Policies.
  9. All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Never convicted of any child abuse including but not limited to sexual abuse.
  2. Six months or more of related experience preferred.
  3. Expected to work and be on time for all scheduled shifts – employee is responsible for finding a substitute for any/all shifts they are unable to work.
  4. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
  5. Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
  6. Ability to work as a team and maintain positive working relationships with YMCA Staff, members and guests.
  7. Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
  8. Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
  9. Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
  10. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications must be completed within 90 days of hire. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential functions, including the ability to move up to 50 pounds of project materials and/or equipment.
  2. Ability to multi-task in a high demand, fast paced environment.
  3. Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
  4. Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
  5. Ability to perform essential cleaning maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi-reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying; working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; lying on stomach and/or back; and stand for an extended period of time.
