Housekeeping Supervisor Job Description

 

Position:                     Housekeeping Supervisor

FLSA Class:               Hourly Non-Exempt

Reports to:                 Assistant General Manager/General Manager

 

Job Summary:

A Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all housekeeping operations to deliver an excellent Guest experience while evaluating guest room and public areas for property cleanliness and quality control he /she can help in setting department targets and objectives in absence of the Executive Housekeeper and assisting his/her direct supervisor in all areas of the housekeeping department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

        Oversee housekeeping operations in the hskp manager absence

        Inspect assigned rooms and ensure they are cleaned to standards

        Oversee Laundry Operations

        Ensure everyone in the department is trained and using Quore on a daily basis

        Operate within departmental budgets through effective stock and cost controls and well managed schedules

        Inspect, regularly, all fixtures, fittings, and appliances to ensure compliance to standards and take action as necessary to conform to standard

        Monitor the appearance, standards and performance of the Housekeeping/Laundry Team with an emphasis on training and teamwork

        Ensure team members have an up-to-date knowledge of all room categories and amenities

        Maintain good communication and work relationships in all hotel areas and with external customers and suppliers

        Ensure staffing levels cover business demands

        Ensure ongoing training

        Manage staff performance issues in compliance with company policies and procedures

        Recruit, manage, train and develop the Housekeeping/Laundry team

        Complete linen inventory for the hotel

        Maintains data and information for property management systems

        Assist other departments wherever necessary

        Be a Brand Ambassador of A&R’s Culture, Mission and Values.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

        At least 1 years of experience in housekeeping/laundry and previous experience of managing a department and or related experience

        Prior successful performance as a Housekeeper

        A high school certificate or equivalent

        Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills

        Committed to delivering high levels of customer service

        Ability to work under pressure

        Excellent grooming standards

        Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations

        Entry level , with computers and computer programs, including Microsoft Office

        Strong organizational, budget management, and problem-solving skills

        Strong communication skills

        A passion for delivering exceptional levels of guest service

 

Other Skills Required:

Physical: Must be able to stand for periods of time; ability to lift to 25 lbs.; may  require frequent bending, stooping and kneeling

Mathematical: Must be able to use basic mathematical techniques including  percentages and ratios
