SUMMARY
Perform the day-to-day activities of the laundry department as assigned, to assure that an adequate supply of linen and personal garments are on hand at all times to meet the daily needs of residents and that the department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
*Note: Other duties may be assigned

·         Collect, sort, and weigh soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., and place in appropriate containers or assigned areas for laundering.

·         Wash and dry soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., in accordance with established procedures.

·         Press/iron clean garments and mend and label personal belongings as instructed.

·         Fold, count, stack, hang, and distribute clean laundry, linens, garments, etc., to residents daily,

·         and/or as instructed.

·         Assist in the care and maintenance of laundry facilities, equipment, and supplies. Clean machines, floors, walls, and equipment as assigned.

·         Communicate with residents, resident families, laundry, and other departments.

·         Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control. Attend and participate in department, staff, in-service classes , on-the-job training programs, etc., as scheduled, or as directed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group    
  situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bargraphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
