Housekeeper
OVERVIEW:
Assist in the general cleaning of all common areas and resident rooms. Cleaning duties include: vacuuming, sweeping and dusting; sanitizing floors and rooms; and discarding and removal of waste/trash. You may also be asked to assist with laundry including resident's personal items, linens and bedding.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Must be experienced at cleaning with a keen eye for details
• Maintains a high level of cleanliness & safety throughout designated areas
• Ensure that all equipment is clean and in working condition at all times
• Removal of trash & soiled linens
• Keeping the resident’s environment clean at all times
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors, dusting furniture, emptying trash, clean and disinfect showers and bathrooms
• Assist with laundry when needed
• Reports equipment/cleaning product needs and or malfunctions to supervisor
• Follows infection control and universal precautions policies and procedures to ensure that a sanitary environment is maintained at all times.
• Follow proper reporting, isolation and handwashing procedures/techniques
• Assist in setting up dining room, activity room, and living room as necessary
• Keep all housekeeping equipment, storage areas, janitor’s closets, and housekeeping carts clean and uncluttered, and free of any hazardous equipment and supplies
• Report all accidents/ incidents to the Administrator on the day of occurrence, along with important resident observations
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum a high school diploma or equivalent
• 1 or more years’ experience in housekeeping duties in a long-term health care setting.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• This job operates in a health care setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the care center.
• Incumbent may be exposed to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens in working environment.
• May experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric, and deceased patients.
