The position requires excellent communication skills - both written and verbal, along with the ability to support the F&B experience at PSSC. This is a full-time position required to work at the property. This position requires non-traditional working hours which includes working nights and weekends and holidays.

Job Summary:

As a Host/Hostess, you will play a vital role in ensuring our guests have a delightful and memorable dining experience. You will be the first point of contact for customers as they enter the restaurant, setting the tone for their visit and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be key in assisting guests with seating, taking reservations, and addressing their inquiries. You will work closely with the restaurant team to ensure smooth operations and ensure that guests leave with a positive impression of our establishment.

 

Responsibilities:

1.    Greeting and Welcoming Guests:

Welcome guests with a warm and friendly demeanor as they arrive at the restaurant.

Provide a pleasant first impression and create a positive atmosphere from the moment they enter.

Manage the flow of guests and handle any waiting lists, ensuring guests are promptly seated upon availability.

2.    Reservation Management:

Answer phone calls and manage reservations efficiently.

Record reservations accurately in the reservation system and maintain an up-to-date booking schedule.

Confirm reservations and follow-up with guests as necessary to reconfirm details.

3.    Seating and Table Management:

Guide guests to their tables and present menus.

Strategically allocate tables to ensure efficient use of seating and maximize restaurant capacity.

Anticipate and accommodate special seating requests, large parties, or guests with specific needs.


4.    Guest Assistance and Communication:

Provide guests with information about the restaurant's offerings, menu items, and daily specials.

Assist guests with any questions or concerns they may have, offering solutions or relaying information to appropriate staff if needed.

Handle customer complaints or issues with professionalism, aiming to resolve problems swiftly and satisfactorily.

5.    Coordination with Restaurant Staff:

Communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth operations and excellent guest service.

Maintain constant communication with the serving team to manage seating arrangements efficiently.


Collaborate with the restaurant team to ensure guest needs are met and address any service-related challenges.


6.    Maintaining the Reception Area:

Keep the reception area tidy and organized.

Ensure menus and promotional materials are up to date and readily available for guests.

Monitor and replenish essential supplies at the reception area, such as pens, reservation cards, and coat hangers.

7.    Upselling and Promoting Offers:

Engage in suggestive selling by promoting specials, add-ons, or loyalty programs to enhance the guest experience and increase revenue.

Encourage guests to sign up for loyalty programs or provide feedback on their experience.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

  • Proven experience in a customer service or hospitality-related role is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with guests and team members.

  • Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities to handle reservations and guest seating efficiently.

  • Ability to remain composed and courteous under pressure, even during peak dining hours.

  • Friendly and approachable demeanor, with a natural inclination to provide exceptional service.

  • Knowledge of restaurant operations and basic familiarity with the menu offerings.

  • Familiarity with reservation management software or the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.

Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.

Continuous repetitive motions.

Work in cold, dry, hot, humid, and noisy environments.
