The basic duties and responsibilities of a hostess include:
- Greeting and welcoming guests
- Keeping front of house and dining area clean and tidy
- Answering phone calls and customer inquiries
- Managing the waitlist
- Escorting customers to their tables or to the Togo room
- Helping out waitstaff during rushes
- Professionally handling guest complaints
