The Daily Catch, established in 1973 in Boston, MA, are family-owned and operated Sicilian-style seafood and pasta restaurants. Job Summary

The Daily Catch seeks an eager Hospitality Management Student for a Summer Restaurant Manager Internship. As the Restaurant Manager Intern, you will learn the front-of-house operations of an 80-person restaurant and gain the hands-on skills and knowledge to grow your career in hospitality. In this role, you will learn every FOH position (server, host, bartender, expo, and events) in order to effectively lead a team and provide support. Additionally, this role will give you exposure in marketing, financials, hiring, and training for the restaurant industry.

Internship Details

This is a 8-week internship program run from the start of July to the end of August.. The minimum hour commitment is 30 hours/week, up to 40 hours/week. There will be one week off in the middle of the summer. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality with previous restaurant experience and a desire to learn everything about the food and beverage industry.

Responsibilities    

- Lead the restaurant on a daily/nightly basis ensuring high customer satisfaction, consistent food quality, welcoming atmosphere, and a positive team environment

- Provide constant support during service to all FOH staff, including seating guests, taking tables, making drinks, running food, and bussing tables

- Oversee restaurant set up, break down, and closing manager duties

- Handle customer complaints and ensure that they are resolved to the satisfaction of the guest

- Assist with managing restaurant inventory including ordering more supplies

- Assist with hiring, training, supervising, and scheduling all FOH staff

- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional events and advertising campaigns

- Ensure that all health and safety guidelines are followed

- Any other tasks necessary for the restaurant to operate properly

Qualifications and Experience

- Minimum two years of Hospitality/Management School completed, ideally a Junior going into Senior year

- Minimum two years experience working in a restaurant, this should not be your first time working in a restaurant

- Majoring in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or Business Management preferred

- Strong knowledge of customer service, leadership, and hospitality

- Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills   

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once     

- Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 25 pounds    

- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
